Pakistan’s Tennis Number Two Encounters a Wet and Wild GX

On a cold and frosty morning on the 19 of December, 50 young and keen tennis players of a variety of ages came to Gerrards Cross Lawn Tennis Club to win the Tennace tournament. One of them Talal Almas is the Pakistani number two who has trained in the USA came to battle out the treacherous conditions at Gerrards Cross. The day started off slowly with only few courts accessible due to ice having frozen over the hard courts. Then, just as the ice seemed to melt away, the rain began to lash down and the carpet courts became water-logged leaving some players playing on courts that could be mistaken for lakes. Luckily, parents were able to sit inside the cosy Clubhouse with a cup of hot chocolate in their hands and watch their children fight the brutal weather. Despite the treacherous conditions the tournament still produced some spectacular performances and even a surprising defeat as the home favourite in the Under 14’s competition, Harley Dyer, lost in the semi-final to Owayss Khan 4-2, 4-1.
